HOUSING:
Connection Point (VB):  757-227-5932 (M - F, 7am - 11 pm) offers coordinated assessment and referral center for people who are experiencing homelessness or who are at-risk of becoming homeless to access assistance in the City of Virginia Beach.  Voicemails left will be returned within 2 days.

The STOP Organization (HR): 757-858-1360 offers assistance with rent serves all of Hampton Roads

Potter's House (VB): 757-428-7727  offers assistance with rent serves Virginia Beach

Homeless Hotline (NOR)  757-587-4202 (M-F, 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.)  Offers resources and referrals for people who are experiencing homelessness or who are at-risk of homelessness. Serves Norfolk residents.

Homeless Action Response Team (H.A.R.T.) (NOR) serves as the Central Intake for families who are experiencing homelessness or who are at-risk of homelessness.  741 Monticello Ave. Norfolk, VA 23510  Walk-ins are welcome. Serves Norfolk residents.


UTILITIES:
Human Services Heating and Cooling Assistancehttps://commonhelp.virginia.gov/access/ Administered through local Human/Social Service Departments to help with heating and cooling bills or equipment needs. 
  • Fuel Assistance - applications received 2nd Tuesday October - 2nd Friday November
  • Crisis Assistance - applications received Nov 1 - March 15  provides one time only heat security deposit, portable space heater for temporary use, payment for emergency shelter or heating equipment repair/purchase
  • Cooling Assistance - applications received Jun 15 - Aug 15 based on availability of funds for purchase or repair of cooling equipment and/or payment for electricity to operate cooling equipment.  Eligible households must have one vulnerable individual who is >60 yrs, disabled, or under 6 years.

FOOD ASSISTANCE:
WIC: offers free health foods and nutrition information available to low income families even if they are working.  See income eligibility guidelines Consider WIC if:
  • You are pregnant
  • You are nursing
  • You have kids under 5
  • You have just had a baby

Food BankProvides nutritious canned, boxed, fresh, frozen, and prepared food. This food is recovered and secured from restaurants, supermarkets, food distributors, the USDA, farmers, wholesalers, sportsmen, and through food and fund drives. Distributes emergency food to over 400 Partner Agencies and Programs including soup kitchens, food pantries, emergency shelters, Mobile Pantries, our Kids Cafe® and BackPack Programs.

SNAP (Food Stamps): Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program is designed to provide food assistance to low income families.  2015 income eligibility.  Applications can be made online at www.commonhelp.virginia.gov or at local social services agencies.


HEALTH:

Hampton Roads Dental Center:  M 9 - 5; T-Th 9 -8; F 9 - 1.  Operates by appointment only.  Call 757-545-5700 select Option #2 for appointment.

ODU Dental Clinic: M-F 8 -4.  Call 757-683-4308 to schedule appointment.  No children under 5.  Costs range from $20 - $50 for services.  Fee must be collected at initial appointment.

Department of Health Dental Clinic:  757-518-2694. T & Th 8:15 - 5:00 Appointment Required.  Services available for children 6 months to 18 years and are free to those in the free lunch program.

Kool Smiles: 757-467-5665  Accepts Medicaid dental coverage.  Call to set up appointment.

Operation Smile: 757-321-7645  Provides free surgeries to repair cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities for children.
